secret project REVEALED

The pattern is the Moneta with the bodice sized to fit me
The end result is everything I'd hoped it would be.

I bought both the Moneta dress pattern and the Mabel pencil skirt pattern from Colette. I bought them as print-at-home PDF files.
So far, I like the pencil skirt pattern better than the dress pattern. Based off my measurements and their size chart, I made the 3x size for both garments.
Mabel - fits like a DREAM. I made version 3-the longer variation with the kick pleat in back. It's sexy and hugs my curves. I'm not planning on making the shorter versions of this pattern, since they'd be more like belts than skirts on my height
This pattern went together really quick and easy. The instructions were clear and simple to follow. A+ would make again and again
Moneta - FAR too big. I need to figure out how to take in the bodice without taking it apart. When I make this again, I'm going to stick with the same size skirt (it's comfy), but use a smaller size bodice.
I made version two - short sleeves with no collar. I'm not impressed with the assembly instructions on this one. Some if the pattern shapes lead to weird seams, which the booklet doesn't explain well. Same goes for the "shirt the skirt with clear elastic" procedure. Ugh. Next one gets pleated and we'll call it good.
Also, the pockets are weird and can only hold a Kleenex- anything more throws off the lines of the dress too much.
I still need to get a slip to wear under my pencil skirt, but Amazon has none available for Prime that are actually plus size. Bah. I also need to buy a new double needle for hemming - my first one broke with 6" to go on the hem of my Moneta. No pins or anything - one of the needles just snapped.

Once again I promote the heck out of a henna event and get no one to come in. Boo. I did a lovely pattern on my shoulder and reworked a tentacle pattern on my leg. I also have worked through several sketches, so it's not a total waste of time, just disappointing.
Yesterday was filled with sick kids, mimosa, sewing, reading about Ragnarok, GW2, and sleeping in. Today was a super early wake up call, GW2, finishing the sewing project and now henna
In a bit I'll head up to JoAnn's and partake of their sale. Then I get to go back for laundry, sick kids, and maybe sleep.
I'm trying hard to remain positive and confident. I know I'm pretty good at this henna thing, but when I can't get people to stop in, it's a challenge to quiet the jerkbrain and be myself.
So, for no reason, have an octopus in a top hat

Still a little wonky, but I think I'm getting good at this.
I have purple/teal glitter tentacle nail wraps. Today is good.

It has begun. Emi's finally big enough to play soccer on Saturday morning. So we all got up early and went down to the park. Ox was so, so sad that he couldn't be out there with the big kids.
It was a beautiful morning for it. Emi was the smallest one out there. Her birthday is so late in the summer that she's probably also the youngest one out there. But she had fun, unlike another little girl who was melting down the whole time.
And now we're home. I was going to run my Scion game, but I'm still feeling puny, Ox is wiping his nose on everyone's shirt (he refuses to be convinced that Kleenex is a better option), and Emi has a cold and is worn out from running for an hour and is acting like a prima donna.
Sigh. Laundry, football, and naps. This sound like a good plan.

We went to the zoo today! They had some model trains set up in the visitor center. It was a truly splendid morning for it, especially since we got to see Au and her family! So fun!
Instead, I spent my creative spoons on this.

Day 19 of my captivity. The authorities continue to misunderstand my demands for humane treatment. Surely the powers that be would not have been so cruel as to place me in the power of those who do not speak a civilized tongue, but it appears to be the case. I will continue in my quest to educate them and sing them the song of my people.
This is Bash. He's super snuggly and the top of his head has New Baby Smell. His momma is upstairs napping, so he's helping Aunt Sabine read her kindle and watch football.
I'm glad I'm done having babies. But...MAN, does it ever feel good to snuggle one again.

Every time I pick this up, it gets just a bit crazier.

1. Do something healthy every day. At a minimum, this means that I take my meds and use my light box. Exercise and cooking healthy also fall into this.
2. Do something with the creative side of my brain every day. I can sew, crochet, cook, blog, or work on game plotting. Video games and football don't count, but dance TOTALLY does.
3. Once a month, learn something new. More often is okay. Research for gaming counts, as do new crafts or brewing styles.
4. Do nice things for me. Get my hair or nails done. Steal an afternoon in my craft room. Read brain fluff comfort book. Things of that nature. Garden.
And, as always, work on being a good mother, wife, sister, daughter, friend.
These seem manageable. And should help me reach my goals.

STABBITY RAGE!!!
Normally, presentations at Staff Meeting are okay, but when the mic is misbehaving and the speaker pretends to not notice, it makes me twitch and then want to stab things.
Argh! Make it STOP!!!!!

The costumes aren't homemade this year, but are very cute!
I love this holiday. I don't so much live working on it - especially when I have meetings scheduled for the ENTIRE day. Fortunately, I have awesome earrings to make today a little less hectic.

Last night was the MBdA fall hafla. This pic doesn't have all the teal that I had on stage, but this gives a pretty good idea of the will-o-wisp look we went for. Lots of LEDs an EL wire completed the look
auryn31 is an amazing dance partner!
It went well. It was an oddly tough crowd, for being primarily other dancers-not really what I've come to expect, based on Madtown audiences.
But I think I did a better job than usual at being open and connecting with the audience. Not sure what may have been going on with my finger stress or Oscar, but I think I spent less time staring at the floor
But Terpsichore didn't smite me and my folks said they really enjoyed it. So I count it a win!

Dude just passed me in the hallway -looked me in the eye- and very confidently said, "Hi, Emily" and walked away. What?
