My desktop background pictures change throughout the day. I'm running three monitors at work, so I get a nice rotation through my pictures directory. Currently, I have these three:
  • Calming manatee saying "I'd hug you if I had arms"
  • The internal monologue of Spock and Kirk while Atticus is running across Asgard.
  • A picture of my kids on the train ride last summer.
This is a nice set of my interests and things to make me happy. I need this right now.

I finished my Darth Vader-inspired dress! It's a Moneta (of course), but with a circle-and-a-half skirt and a striped overlay on the shoulders. And a banded neck instead of a collar or neck hem. I'm very proud. I will be wearing this to the movie when Downwood and I go on Saturday.

Also, during tonight's meditation session, it occurred to me that meditating is a very Jedi thing to do. And then John Williams' theme song started playing in my head. So I took Andy's (the coach on the app) advice and was just present and mindful. And it was lovely.

Problem: October in Wisconsin is cold. Glow Cloud cosplays are not inherently warm.
Solution: Make a light-up wrap to go over jacket.

Problem: Wrap needs ALL THE LIGHTS. No lights left for skirt.
Solution: Order more lights.

All hail Amazon Prime. All hail the Glow Cloud.

Sinuses still ache
Taco night is super good
Work is not real fun

Kids are very cute
this is what saves them daily
Bedtime is awesome

The Mnah-Mnah Troupe does it again!

And then, of course, there's this piece. A reprise of my NL performance, but kicked up a notch.

I'm happy with both. It was a good night.

And now, in our ongoing series of "I'm an adult. Yes, really", I present to you my recipe for Lazy Nachos.

Step 1 - Get a block of cheese out of the fridge.
Step 2 - Cut off a piece of the cheese. If you want a big snack, get a big piece. Not rocket science.
Step 3 - Put the block of cheese back in the fridge.
Step 4 - Get out some tortilla chips. The amount should be proportionate to your cheese.
Step 5 - Take a bite of cheese. Immediately eat a tortilla chip.
Step 6 - Repeat step 5. Try to make the ingredients come out even.

TaDa! Lazy Nachos.

I'm listening to an audiobook of "The Importance of Being Earnest". It's actually a recording of a live stage production and the actors are FANTASTIC. So I'm sitting here giggling at the language and the absurdity of the plot and the everything. It's hilarious and absurd and wonderful.

This is wonderful. Yes. Wonderful.

I'm just going to leave this here. For...reference.

So storium

I've gotten well and truly sucked into Storium. I contributed to the Kickstarter and have been extreeeeeeemely pleased with what I've seen in the beta so far. I'm running two games - one's a steampunk adventure for friends and one's called "I spend my reward on ale and...more ale!". It's not to be taken seriously.

One of the things I've done in the latter game is say that each character needs to define a prop. A thing that normally wouldn't impact game play, but in Storium, I can create a card for the object. The player can then use that object to help them out of a bind.

One of the thieves chose a cursed necklace for his object. This is how I described it on the card:
Poor thief Rhwi had troubles all his own
He had a little necklace that wouldn’t leave his home
He tried and he tried to give the thing away
He sold it to a man going far, far away
But the gem came back the very next day...

I'm still giggling. And that, right there, will tell you the Kind of Game I am Running.

Now back to our regularly scheduled steampunk mayhem. Yus.

So, um, the song I'm going to dance and zil to tomorrow night? Has been choreographed by teacher M. For cane. For laser cane. I think it'll work. It's the right tempo, the right length, the right genre, and it has the advantage that I know the song pretty well.

Some of you will find this incredibly amusing. I regret nothing. Yet.
