OMG! It's really going to happen!! I'm excited and nervous about it, but have hope that it will rock my socks.

I was going to write something about how fall is my absolute favorite season and I love it all to pieces. I love the temperature, the clothes, the FOOD, the holidays, the football, and pretty much everything else that makes fall wonderful.

Then I got sick yesterday and could neither sleep nor use my brain. So I did what I usually do and laid on the couch to watch TV.

I watched most of season three of Bones and finished up with Downwood tonight. So, obviously, I'm feeling a little beat up by the ending (WTF?!?!) and I'm going to be finding a reputable site whence to download episode one of season four tomorrow. The DVR got set up yesterday to record tonight's episode - and the rest of the season.

I don't watch much TV. And by "much" I mean that I watch football, the very occasional movie, Mythbusters if I remember that it's on, and Food Network, but only if I'm bored beyond all human reason. For this show, I will watch TV. All you who said I would love it? Totally vindicated and victorious.

Moving on, I've heard really good things about Eurkea. Thoughts?

Question the First
How do I make my hair be curly? If I let it air-dry, I get a lot of crazy waves and the underneath layers get really nifty spiral curls. But if I comb or brush my hair, I get frizzy straight hair. Usually during the week I don't have time to have high-maintenance hair, but I get this feeling that my hair could be Really Awesome instead of just Dude, That's A Lot Of Hair.

I'm not adverse to buying gunk and spending time learning how to use it, but I have no idea where to start. Growing up I had stick-straight, very fine hair. Now it seems to want to be curly and there's a metric ton of it. When hanging loose, it reaches to the bottom of my rib cage.

Question the Second
I need a reputable place from which to download season 3 of Bones. Need it. But I don't want viruses, trojans, etc to infest my computer. But I need my show, for I am a Sabine who loves stories and good characters and both can be found within this show.

- Finish watching season 1 of Bones while cutting out pattern pieces for three fun garments Just For Her.
- Stop cutting the tissue paper near the end of the penultimate episode because Booth is making her cry.
- Give up on the patterns altogether in the last episode. Consider running up to Target to get season 2. Right now.
- Turn and finish the topstitching on the prettiest bodice I've made yet. Wowsa. I knew I'd done good with centering the fabric on the pattern but...wow. All it needs is Downwood's touch with grommets and I can ship the whole ensemble.
- Play DA.
- Work really hard at convincing brain that the world is not ending, people still like me, and I'm not a failure - I'm just really tired and the logic part of my brain has given up, but the emotional side is hyped up on something.

Criminal Minds is still my favorite show. However, CSI:NY is redeeming my faith in the CSI franchise tonight.

I have a problem. I have a Very Important Problem. You see, I get into Plano on July 10th. Alan Tudyk, however, is going to be at a convention there on the 8th. I need a brave volunteer to nab the man and keep him somewhere until I get there.

Any takers?

So Downwood's flipping channels this evening and comes across HBO's Elizabeth I. I start examining the clothing, drooling over the fabrics, and lusting after the time, skill, and materials to make such beautiful creations. I attempted to explain my fascination to Downwood.

Me: "Ooh! Look! Her sleeves are set in with cartridge pleating!"
Him: "That's...nice?"
Me: "And that's such a nice line on that doublet. I wonder if they quilted it first and who is that amazing piece of jailbait?"
Him: "Wait, what?"
Me: "Him! Who is the hot young man with dark curls needing to be tousled? And the puppy dog eyes! And the overwhelming RAWR!"
Both of us: IMDB

Why did no one tell me of the extreme hotness that is Hugh Dancy? RAWR! And he's even legal! Yay!

OMG!!!

CSI. Season finale. Final 45 seconds. OMGAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

I shrieked so loud that I made the neighbor's dog start barking.

OMG. OMG! OMG!!

There's a reason that I don't regularly play video games. After losing most of last night and this evening to Heroes III, I've remembered that reason. It's kind of nice, though, after getting kicked around in other games to come back to one that I know I can win with little frustration and less difficulty.

Speaking of frustration, my new corset has run smack into a dead end of OMGARGH!! All that's left is to put the bias tape around the edges to bind them shut, but it's giving me such a headache that I was about 1/4 inch from throwing the damn thing out the window this afternoon. *deep breath*

I went on a clothes shopping expedition this afternoon. I only do this every 27 months or thereabouts, so I don't feel bad about spending more money than I'd originally planned. I managed to get several pairs of pants that fit, a cute skirt, and some dress shirts. I'm quite a bit disgusted with sizing in women's clothes - I bought pants in sizes 10, 12, *and* 14. This is ridiculous.

Also, this past week's Criminal Minds? Eek!
CSI:NY? Made me very angry and then made me cry.
CSI? Will withhold judgment until we finish watching it. TiVo is SUCH a beautiful thing...

If you are a fan of the series, read the song. It's a moral imperative.

free?

Free time? What is this free time you speak of?

I finished with the painting of my druid's wolf. Genetically speaking, I am ill-suited for the painting of teeny things. I have my grandmother's hands: long, thin, and shaky. Throwing helped train some of it out of me, but it's still a problem.

Haven't yet started on druid girly or the translating of vague story kernels into a rule-based system. I've got time. Right. Time. Someone get on my case if I haven't done anything in a week or so.

I'd like to say that Silk Nog is really yummy. It's not so heavy as real egg nog nor does it have the same worrying raw egg ingredient as the real stuff. I haven't yet tried it with bourbon or brandy (don't have any - the only reason), but a sprinkling of nutmeg is awfully tasty.

And CSI:NY has officially SOLD OUT. Grr. Stupid ring tone commercial inside the show.

Job interview went really well. I think I stand a decent shot at getting an offer. Thank you to all who offered support and good wishes.

Work continues its suckage. Boss is...oblivious. I so need to get out of there. >-<

SciFi is a wonderful television station. Anyone who wishes to make me an icon that has Ben Browder's character looking very "WTF?!" with the caption "Bullets...bounce!!!" will earn my eternal gratitude.

Apparently, I'm going to get to go to GenCon for free after all. I'd thought that going to several Nadas shows and the MN Ren Fest sort of precluded the other trip, but things have worked themselves out. \m/-_-\m/

My folks will be here in less than 9 hours to be decked in garb and conveyed to faire. :-)

I have brand-spankin'-new copies of Wee Free Men, A Hat Full of Sky and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. :-D

Life is good. (and emoticons are fun!)

Finally, a real update. Yeah, I know.

The season premiers of CSI, :Miami, and :New York were all splendid. I'm such an addict of that show. And now I have an extra hour of the dead body goodness each week. Joy!

I played racquetball last night with [livejournal.com profile] jrug. This was our first contest in about a year or so. I didn't embarrass myself too terribly. 9-15, 6-15, 16-14. My right arm is threatening to fall off later today due to the game, but that was expected. It was nice seeing how good throwing has been for my racquetball game. How so? Stronger arms. Go me. *grin*

One week from today a large chunk of my family will be descending upon Madison. This means I have a week to get my apartment into a condition that won't result in Mom tsk-ing me. I'd really like to avoid that. So, cleaning will be a priority next week. I need to figure out how to make room for the furniture they're bringing me, too. Stepdad wants to get rid of an old kitchen table and cabinet, so I'll get a real table instead of the folding one. Yay!

Work continues to be frustrating. I don't know why nothing wants to work anymore. I was doing so well and now I've hit that brick wall of failure again. I understand that science runs in cycles (including the TCA cycle, [livejournal.com profile] bexdragon), but I'm ready to get useful data again.

I stopped by Bruno's the other afternoon to pick up some of the good crack. I have this cookie recipe, you see...chocolate peanut butter cookies with chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and p.b. cups. They're serious crack. Yum.

Studio is still going well, at least. I've finished a wedding gift for a friend. I tried to make matching mugs. They look...similar. I don't so much have the control to make anything identical. It's enough for me that I'm consistent. Speaking of which, I'm going to have to figure out how to carve claws. Hm, sculpture not being my strong point, this could get entertaining...

I've had about 60% more coffee this morning than I usually do. I'm pretty hyper. Group meeting this afternoon's gonna be fun. We're meeting to discuss what data we can send as "supplementary" for our NIH grant. It gets reviewed on Oct 22, we have until next Friday to send more data. *crosses fingers* We really need this funding.

Ok, enough randomness. Meeting, lunch, feed cells, studio, post office-type place, interstate. I've got a spiffy afternoon ahead of me. It's time I got to it!
sabine: (sure)
Go see Hero! It's an absolutely gorgeous film. I'm not entirely sure what it was about, but it was a pleasure to watch. Yes, it's over the top, but it's well worth seeing.

If you get a chance, watch Firefly. Why I didn't watch it when it was on TV, I'll never know. It's a hell of a show. [livejournal.com profile] jrug has been nice enough to lend me the discs as he gets done with them. He's also my hook-up for info on the movie that's in production. I know not the details. Go bother him.

Last night at Walmart, I really wanted to make my displeasure with my cashier known. However, in order to not be a sucky customer, I kept my smile fixed on my face and acted all understanding and such. In my head (as opposed to out of my head) I was thinking, "I need to get a spork and a holster. After I sharpen the spork, I'll be able to pull it out at moments such as these and *stabstabstabstab* and I'll feel better."

Today's email gave me some rather entertaining advice:
Your fortune for today...
Whoever said life isn't fair was cheating.

Everyone will be in the mood to take care of business now -- everyone but you. You'll want to immerse yourself in sensory pleasures. Fortunately, it won't be too hard for you to persuade someone to become your equally hedonistic companion.

And, when you get to start out a day by pointing and laughing at your coworkers, you know things will probably go well. My Asshat Coworker (AC) and Cool Coworker (CC) have gotten roped into TAing Boss's course. I had the misfortune of being in the same position last year. Last year, the other TA and I rebelled and said that we were too lazy to want to write or grade problem sets, so those got dropped from the syllabus. AC and CC decided that they wanted to do those. They also thing that they'll have plenty of time for their own classes and labwork. *shaking head* Fools. They shall learn the error of their ways.

I'm gonna go throw some more. Mmm...clay addiction being slowly satisfied... I've only got two more commission pieces on my list. Anyone have requests? *grin*
