damn you, murphy
Apr. 23rd, 2014 09:47 amSo I went home hungry and fed up with werk. I got home to find that Emi was still playing next door and Ox was finishing up a very late afternoon snooze.
Ox woke up very sad and then dozed again. Emi finally came home, very upset that her friends had to go in to have dinner, totally overlooking the fact that she also had to come in for dinner. She said that her hand hurt after washing up, so then we found out she had a splinter in her hand from playing with something.
Cue the drama.
Holy gods, so much drama.
She was screaming, kicking, crying, begging to not have us use the tweezers to pull it out. She was so worked up that Ox got worked up.
Then Ox threw up all over the place. We're not sure how he had that much in him.
I got Emi calmed down, then Ox just wanted Momma to hold him to make it all better. So I did.
Then I put Ox in the tub and he freaked out. So I got in the tub with him and he snuggled and calmed down enough to play. He used his bath crayons to color in the henna designs on my legs.
As we were snuggling and playing in the tub, Downwood was getting the splinter out of Emi's hand. Even through the closed door and the other end of the house, I could hear her screaming to be let go. Poor kid.
He finally got the splinter dug out of her hand and got it cleaned up. Then she got in the tub, too.
Ox and I got out of the tub, then I got Emi out of the tub.
Downwood read Ox some books. I read Ox some books. Ox decided he was not yet ready for bed and wanted to play.
I told Emi it was time for bed. She had a meltdown. I finally got her in bed and was reading to her. Ox came in to listen, too, so Downwood ended up coming in, grabbing him, and taking him to bed to read the train book again. Emi had another meltdown after I turned off the light and left the room.
I had ice cream. And went to bed.
And then overslept by an hour this morning. Blast. Obviously, I needed the sleep, but it totally threw me off my game.
Two more days of work, then a three day weekend. I can do this. Eye of the Tiger.
Also, I look fabulous in my new dress from eShakti. It's a lovely green and incredibly flattering. It also has a high neck so I'm not worried about flashing anyone. So that's lovely.
