I should feel vaguely accomplished. My new/real corset is about 1/4 boned. This is a more impressive figure when I say that I put 1/4" channels on all but about 4 inches of the fabric. I'm also not using spring steel, plastic, or artificial whalebone. Instead, I've chosen to recreate my first corset attempt and use broomstraw. Splinters and "paper"cuts from broomstraw really, REALLY hurt. Ow.
While finishing dinner and working on the corset, I watched Rent again. I actually got to sing along to all the songs and do the choreography with the actors this time (Downwood's out playing with little bugs). And, of course, I sobbed through most of the last 15-20 minutes. By the time the credits rolled, I was crying so hard that I scared the dog. After I shut off the movie, I had the genius idea to watch Big Fish or Serenity but I came to my senses and made a cup of tea instead.
So, in summary:
Good Idea - Watching a movie while working on hand sewing.
Bad Idea - Watching a movie that makes me cry while cutting apart a broom and using its innards to stuff a medevial torture device that I seem to be making simply for the hell of it.
Right. This definitely calls for more tea.
