Brief informative interlude

Four things that, if you haven't read them, you really should.
First, a review of Anansi Boys by Charles de Lint summarizes the core of the appeal of most of Gaiman's work.
Second and Third, a two-part essay by
silmaril written in response to the cartoon/burning down of embassy thing. The first part is her commentary on the entire situation, while the second entry contains further analysis stemming from comments on the first entry. They are very much worth reading.
Fourth, an article from Slate that, while parts of it rub me the wrong way, has a couple of good points to make.
This has been a test of the Emergency Educational System. If this had been an actual information emergency, we would've used much stronger language and possibly beaten you over the head with a frozen trout. We now return you to your regularly scheduled workday.
