Things I've Learned in Dance #459

Walking is hard.
Any time we pick up a new prop, after we get the hang of the initial motion, we start trying to just walk with it. Forward and back. Nothing complicated, but I always forget how to move my feet. I can't walk in rhythm or I can't keep the rhythm of the prop going. Oy.
Last night, we focused on just walking. Feeling the music and feeling every muscle from toes to shoulders all working together to create forward, sideways, or backward movement.
That shouldn't be hard. But it was.
I overthink things a lot. It's just a part of my personality. Overthinking walking is a cognitive dissonance exercise in something. Concentrating on every muscle makes me fall over and be even less graceful than usual.
But, yeah, walking is hard. And today I hurt in all the places. Ow. And yay.
