12 Days of Being Happy - Day Three
Dec. 16th, 2008 06:14 pmDay Three - Dry, fluffy snow
It's snowing again. It's really freaking cold and the forecasters say it'll snow to about midnight, then again tomorrow and Thursday. I was grateful for anti-lock brakes and all-wheel drive tonight and was very, very grateful for a forgiving sense of balance when my boot found the Sheet of Ice under the new snow.
But this snow? Is pretty.
It's teeny little flakes that are mostly floating down. I haven't run into the driving winds that can make this kind of snow hellish. It's light and powdery, making it much easier to shovel than the wet, heavy crap we sometimes get slammed with.
Since the flakes are so small and it's so cold out, it looks like everything is coated with glitter. The roads glitter, the cars glitter, my dog glittered, the air itself is glittering. It's too cold for me to want to stay outside any longer than is necessary, but it's amazingly beautiful out there.
When I get the chance to chill and look at the snow and not worry about driving, scraping, or shoveling, I think I take a step back from Responsible Adulthood. And that's really what it's all about sometimes. Tonight is beautiful and wonderful. I'll worry about tomorrow when it gets here.
