impulse purchase

So, um, I may have impulse purchased something shiny. Something really shiny for the SitG show that I haven't even asked if I can perform in yet. This shiny. After I get it, I'll need to decide on skirtage. I'm not sure what works best on my body - circle, trumpet, skinny? So many choices.
I also have renewed motivation to work out more. I want to fit into my black/green costume better so's I can dance at Hookah at a New(er) Dancer Night to a song that's just plain wrong, but I can TOTALLY make it work.
I still need to repair some of the beading on my pink dress. And find fabric to make gauntlets/hair thing.
I also need to dance more. I know the only way to get where I want to be is to practice and try to get stronger. I can do this. Really.

Date: 2013-05-06 04:09 pm (UTC)You could wear a circle skirt so long as it wasn't too stiff. A drapey one hangs beautifully and wouldn't make it look like you are all legs: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=165649586785460&set=pb.160385537311865.-2207520000.1367855798.&type=3&theater
A trumpet skirt is good for you if you would like to emphasize curviness. It would be way fancy to do a solid skirt for you with silk chiffon insets in the gores! I think you'd also look awesome in a straight skirt with a slit.
The one think I think (IMHO) you should avoid is too much heaviness in your skirt. A big tiered skirt, for example, would probably take over your whole look. For example, even through Farida has brought some of the volume "up" in this costume, I think that's too much skirt for her:

It should be neutral enough that I can put anything with it. I was worried about the lightness of the base fabric against my skin, but I've looked at enough pictures of Farida to be more confident that this is going to be awesome.
