Weekendery
Apr. 30th, 2012 01:16 pmAll day yesterday, Emi wanted to do one of two things:
The weekend was blissfully uneventful. Most of my time evaporated in a haze of dishes and laundry, but I found time to re-henna my hair (missed some spots in the back, darn it), get a batch of beer fermenting (go, little yeast, go!), have a dance party in the basement with Emi, and make a whole bunch of food for Ox for this week. The little dude is growing so fast and is TOTALLY DOWN with this "solid food" thing. He's a champion eater and has very definite preferences about his food and an amazingly grumpy and sad face when a new flavor or texture is not to his liking.
I need to figure out what's going wrong between my back and my hips. Ever since the BUW workshop on that terrible, awful floor, things have been hurty. At least now it seems like the pain is less day to day instead of increasing. Still, I don't like it when I can't move how I want and when I want.
- Go out back and plant pumpkin seeds. She's fixated on growing things, planting seeds, looking at flowers, and generally anything that lets her run around the yard. She and I picked up a packet of pumpkin seeds at the store. I have high hopes that the pumpkin vines will out-compete the weed garden under our maple tree without (hopefully) making it all the way across the yard to take over the rest of the garden. Rainy day, lawn mowing, and Momma with very hurty back made this not something I really wanted to do.
- Play with the colored rice I made her. Last weekend we did a craft project - shake 1 cup of white rice, 2 T vinegar, and a couple drops of food coloring in a jar. When the color's evenly distributed, spread out the rice on a paper towel to dry. We made the entire rainbow and Emi's favorite thing is to dig and pour and sort and play with her colored rice. And make a mess, but she's 2 and that sort of goes without saying.
