Proud Momma Moment
Mar. 27th, 2012 09:21 amOn Sunday afternoon, I was feeding Ox on the couch while Emi napped nearby. Ox drifted off to sleep and I picked up the top item my Stack of Things to Read*.
This happened to be a homebrewing supply catalog. As I was paging through and letting my magpie heart make a wishlist, I heard a delighted "oOOoo" from Ox. His eyes were wide open and he was trying to reach for the pages. When I moved the catalog closer, he started babbling pure excitement and joy in his language.
Later in the afternoon, Ox was having a meltdown about being on the floor and unable to get to something. Downwood was sitting with him and trying to calm him down. No amount of reassurance would get through to the little guy, so Downwood grabbed the catalog and showed it to him. Angry Baby was immediately replaced by Happy Baby.
This same trick does *NOT* work on his big sister. It would be difficult for Emi to care less about a brew supply catalog. This is good, as she's allergic to pretty much every ingredient there and would view the hardware as something else to try to break. Show her a gardening catalog with pictures of flowers and veggies, though, and she'll tell you all about it.

yuki_onna, and PW's new cookbook
