I made my debut performance in Madison tonight. At the Madison Bellydance Alliance's first-ever Halloween-themed hafla, I performed my version of 80s-middle eastern fusion. When the first notes spilled over the crowd, everyone suddenly understood.
That's right, I performed the Thriller dance, blending the choreography from the video with the dance that I've been learning.
It. went. SO. well.
My face hurts from smiling. I had dance classmates tell me that I did a great job and that I'd never looked so sexy. A random woman from the audience made a point to tell me how confident and self-assured I looked.
I believe there is video, but there may be a problem with other peoples' feet in the way. I assume that there were other pictures taken, but I honestly don't remember anything other than just dancing.
It was so very much fun. I'm already planning my piece for the hafla in April. I just hope that I can make what I want to do work with whatever theme they decide on.
