sabine: (Cute but psycho)
My darling little sister showed up on my doorstep last night. Unfortunately, I was not at home to properly welcome her, having gotten distracted in the gaming store after having delicious shrimp stir-fry at the Chinese buffet. There was much talking and giggling and general making of merry.

Today was a most excellent day. We had bacon, eggs, and donuts for breakfast before sitting around, reading, and listening to music for much of the morning. All three of us got cleaned up, we grabbed lunch, and then watched the Badger women play hockey. It was a blast! Sister's favorite player was the five foot-nothing pixie playing for UW. She was little, she was feisty, and holy crap was she fast! Our goalie was perfect and the good gals won 3-0.

After getting out of the parking lot, we stopped at home to check email and walk the dog. Then we all got to go to Pedro's for Kate's birthday dinner. Though we were mocked for missing girly time at the salon, it was still a lot of fun to hang out, have margaritas, and eat tasty foods. I am sad now that I didn't get to have any flan, but we had to rush out the door in order to drive downtown.

Downtown was a madhouse. Trying to find parking about drove Downwood into conniptions, but we eventually got a spot on the highest level of a garage not too far from the Kohl center. We got to our seats about 5 minutes early, then we got to watch the Badger men beat up on Minnesota State! Yes, it truly was a Day Of Hockey for me and my sister. Made of win, even, since the men finished the game 4-2.

It took much longer to get back to our car and get out of the clusterf*ck that is Park St after a Badger game. As soon as we walked in the door, we pulled up wunderground.com to see when the sleet, ice, and snow is going to be starting. Since it's predicted to start heavy sleeting at Sister's house before 3 and sleet-snow by 6, she decided it was smarter to grab a couple of sodas and take off right now. We got her loaded up and sent on her way with a new car charger and instructions to call when she gets to either our parents' house or hers. I know she's more comfortable driving when a little tired than when she can't see three inches in front of her, but I'm going to quietly worry until I get that phone call.

Next time we visit, it needs to be when there's no weather about to beat the everliving tar out of us. But it was a lot of fun having my mini-me around, even if it wasn't for nearly long enough.
