So last night I got a phone call from my little sister that shaved a couple years off my life. A big storm ripped through much of the Midwest last night. Here in Mad-town we got pelted with tennis ball-sized hail. In Iowa City, they had a tornado go through the center of town.

Guess where my sister was?

She'd planned to go out dancing to help make up for the suckiness of the last couple weeks, culminating in the "You might not have a job next fall, but we're not going to tell you until May 15th. Have a good Easter." conversation of yesterday afternoon. She was then going to head to KS for the weekend to spend the holiday with our father.

She was out with our stepbrother when the tornado hit. I'm not sure where exactly they were in relationship to it, but she said that walking down the street afterwards was like walking through a picture of a city in the middle of a war

Her car has been giving her grief for the last period of time. Now its roof has been smashed by a fallen tree limb. I don't know the extent of the damage, but it looked pretty bad to her last night.

I'm going to try calling her again in a bit. Hopefully she'll be a bit more coherent this morning. She wasn't very out of it last night, but was very scared and probably in a bit of shock. If you have any good thoughts to spare, send them her way.

EDIT: I just talked to her. Her car is officially dead and having only liability insurance is suddenly a problem. She's not sure what she's going to be doing for the weekend, but she's okay. She's starting to look for a new job just in case, but hopes she won't have to actually find one. She says THANK YOU to everyone who's offered hugs or support and that she'll try to come up for a visit as soon as she has both transportation and a free weekend. I'm going to step back on the worry levels and consider actually doing work today.

right.

Dear Self,

Your hairbrush is not a mouse and will not move the cursor. Really. Even if you try more than once.

Worried about your brain,
Me
