I read The Bad Beginning last night. It's the first book in the Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett. Now, I'd been looking at the books for a while. I love children's books - I worked in a library, primarily the children's section for four years - and I make a point of browsing through the kids' section at the used bookstores I frequent.
A couple of weeks ago, we went to see a movie and one of the trailers was for the SoUE movie. The preview looked great, so I said to myself, "Self, here's yourexcuse reason to get the books."
Half.com is my friend.
I managed to find the first three in a boxed set. I sat down last night with the first book. 45 minutes and a bunch of giggles later, I was done. The books are short and they're written for a grade or two lower than the Harry Potter books.
So, the Series of Unfortunate Events just got added to the list of Book Series that I Need to Read and Probably Buy for My Library.
Drat.
