yay for friday!

This morning I sat down to check my email. When I opened and read the second message, I leapt from my chair and began doing the happy dance in the middle of my office. I hit "print", raced down the hall, grabbed the pages from the printer, and continued happy dancing as I tacked them firmly above my desk.

Here's what the email in question said:

Subject: Dissertator Status

Congratulations on being formally admitted to candidacy for the Ph.D. degree. You qualify for dissertator status beginning with the Fall, 2004 term.


*happy dance* It's been a week since my prelim and I finally feel like celebrating! I did it! I passed! *mental backflips, 'cause I can't do them in real life*

And then this afternoon I hear that New Line and Neil Gaiman are in talks for a movie adaptation of Death: the High Cost of Living that Gaiman will write and direct. I'm not going to hold my breath: this could be either very good or very bad. I'm hoping for very extremely sublimely good, naturally.
