Friday
Therapy kind of destroyed my equilibrium. This is why I prefer having it at the end, rather than the beginning of the day. I guess it was okay, since I had to get home early so that Downwood could leave early and go cater a going-away party for two of our close friends. The kids and I hung out and had dinner. I made them a whole bunch of colored soap for fingerpainting in the tub (take Dove bodywash - just make sure it's white and, for us, hypo-allergenic and add a couple drops of food coloring. Bam. Fingerpaint for the tub). Then we all went to bed early.
Saturday
Did a little laundry. Did some picking up.
Downwood spent the afternoon helping said friends load the moving truck, so the kids and I hung out at the house. I should mention at this point that the reason the kids and I weren't at either the going away party or the packing party is because of their allergies. The first party was hosted by friends who have cats. The apartment they're moving from has given Emi's allergies terrible fits in the past. To avoid miserable kids, we just kept them at home.
The highlight of Saturday was dinner. I made fancy potatoes (http://food52.com/blog/5649-francis-mallmann-s-potato-dominoes), substituting coconut oil and popcorn butter salt (no actual butter was harmed in the making of this) instead of the clarified butter. I turned all the leftover potato pieces into mashed potatoes. Then I made onion straws. Emi ate all the potatoes and Ox ate all the onions. It was pretty delicious.
Sunday
More laundry. I only had to do 6 or 7 loads this weekend. Not too bad, actually.
Emi won the coin flip at breakfast time, so I made pancakes. They were pretty darn tasty, too. There are some leftovers in the fridge, even. Yum, carbs!
I had one thing left on my hemming pile - a Moneta dress out of fabric similar to this one, but ITY and light tan instead of cocoa. (https://www.denverfabrics.com/p148071_37075-cocoablack-houndstooth-jersey-knit). It's very pretty and wonderful, but my sewing machine decided that a twin needle hem was just completely out of the question and there was no way this was going to happen. Very frustrating. So I pulled out my serger and sewed up some seams on a dress for Emi and a dress for me. I need to go to JoAnn's or Hancock for more clear elastic and white thread, but that requires time and energy.
We'd expected our friends to come down for dinner to say goodbyes to me and the kids, but they had more cleaning to do in their apartment than they'd expected. Disappointing, but such is life.
Played some GW2 with other friends. Threw the kids out into the back yard to get some sun when it turned out to be a nice day. Made the leftover mashed potatoes into potato cakes and Ox ate ALL of them. Got some snuggles in.
I didn't get any alone/me time this weekend. I'm a little sad about that, but these things happen.
Today
Have already had to send "are you kidding me" emails. Also have sent emails that will likely make some people happy. Not particularly looking forward to the rest of the day if the last 2 hours have been any indication of things to come.
Looking forward to dance tonight. Also, looking forward to my weekly dinner out. I go to the grocery store in the mall and get a sandwich or Chinese food or a salad and sit in the cafe by myself. It's restful. And then go to dance.
And now, since I've misspelled "integration" as "inebriation", I should really pay more attention to my work.
Ta Do This Week
Locate passport. Set in motion chain of events to renew that puppy.
Start to clear off the spare bed in the basement.
